GRIEF COUNSELLING

PROCESS GRIEF IN A WAY THAT IS HEALTHY FOR YOU

In almost all cases, the death of a loved one brings grief. Grief is deeply personal and takes many forms, and all of them are valid. Grief is where we come to terms with the death of someone we cared for, process the many emotions that arise, and adjust our life to their absence.

In my role as a Grief Counsellor, I recognize grief is different for each client, often varies based on the age of my client, the age of the deceased, the nature of relationship, and the unique aspects of the relationship. For example, an eldery client grieving the loss of a longtime spouse may have different emotions and practical needs then a young adult grieving the lost of a sibling. My role as a grief counsellor is to understand both the general and unique circumstances of your grief, to support a healthy grieving process, and to help you navigate the emotions and practical realities of life without your loved one.

My work as a grief counsellor approaches each client from multiple perspectives, with a focus on what will serve you best. Common facets of the work include experiential, body-centered exploration of emotions, existential conversations, and task based solutions to provide tangible movement.

The goal of grief counselling is to allow the mourning process to take place at a natural pace that yields lasting peace within you, and the skills to navigate emotions and daily life on an ongoing basis. Whether grief for you is short and intense, or it reverberates through the remainder of your life, it is possible to have a healthy relationship with it to continue to live your life to its fullest.
